Argentina’s President Blasts Socialism

Javier Milei, tellin’ it like it is

Argentina’s new president, Javier Milei, raised the roof at the World Economic Fund pow-wow at Davos this week, blasting socialism as the road to national poverty (https://www.indiatoday.in/world/story/world-economic-forum-javier-milei-wef-speech-imf-capitalism-socialism-free-market-inflation-poverty-dollar-davos-2490366-2024-01-18).

Let this one quote stand for the rest of his speech:

“The state is not the solution. The state is the problem.”

Given the audience, that must have gone over like a lead balloon. They don’t call him the Donald Trump of South America for nothing.

Pray for Milei to find strong allies.

  1. Argentina is Pope Francis’ home country. I’m curious as to why he’s never gone back for a visit. For Javier Milei to have been elected, their must be a majority of Argentines who disagree with Francis’ agenda.

    1. Yeah, I would certainly think so!

    1. Could well be. I’m not against government, but I believe that life is best when the government keeps the peace, defends the nation, delivers the mail, and stays out of the day to day affairs of its law abiding citizens.

    2. Diogenes, having been offered anything he’d ask for as a gift, told Alexander the Great not to stand between him and the sun.
