We went out to buy groceries this morning, with the day’s heat already kicking in. As I opened the car door to take out the bags, a white cabbage butterfly flew into the car.
Well, of course I had to wait for him to fly back out before I shut the door: I didn’t want him slain by the heat. With a little verbal encouragement, he soon found his way out again. Shut the door on the roasting hot car.
This is not something that happens all the time. In fact, it never happened to me. Was the Lord trying to tell me something? The butterfly had had a close call, but probably never knew it. How often does God hold the door open for us, for those few extra moments we need to get out of danger?
And we never know it, either.
You made a good point there. I’m sure it happens much more often than we think.
We’d probably be shocked to find out.
Sometimes, what we need is something very simple, just like that.
