I’m from New Jersey, so don’t expect me to explain this night of the long knives going on in New York City ( https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/nyc-mayor-eric-adams-gov-kathy-hochul-calls-to-remove/).
For all practical purposes, NYC is a one-party political system. Democrats run the place, every aspect of it. So why are they howling for the scalp of a Democrat mayor? Why have they all ganged up on Democrat Mayor Eric Adams and started a campaign to somehow chase him out of office?
I have a Political Science degree. “With Honors,” I might add. I am supposed to understand stuff like this. Ha. Fat chance of that.
Four deputy mayors have resigned. Congressman Hakeem Jeffries is involved–although why the devil he should be, who can say? Gov. Kathy Hochul is “working on a plan” to get rid of him. The whole mob of New York bigwigs has come out to pitch Adams into the well. What could he have done to make them so mad?
That’s the thing with one-party systems, though. It always winds up with Stalin vs. Trotsky. When they don’t have anyone else to fight, they fight with each other. Human nature and all that.
The U.S. Dept. of Justice wants to dismiss the charges (?) against Adams. All sorts of people in the city government have resigned in the past two weeks. Must be his fault!
Adams himself seems totally bemused. But who wouldn’t be?
Lesson, boys ‘n’ girls: Just because you’ve gotten rid of all the political parties but one… doesn’t mean you’re gonna have peace in the valley.
Apparently, Adams started objecting to the flood of illegals being sent into NYC, saying it was destroying the city’s economy and increasing crime, among other harms to the city. This, of course, ran counter to the Dems’ Party Line and made Adams into a pariah — or, to use Marxist terms, a counterrevolutionary. Hence the struggle sessions and show trials.
This is fascinating to observe.
Isn’t that something. It just keeps barreling downhill, headed for the cliff, and not far away. Who ever thought it would get this insane.
