Well That Was a Big Fat Waste of Time

I am back from the so called ophthalmologist.

What a big fat waste of time and money (money because I took a cab, figuring my eyes would be dilated).

I had been awfully anxious–very much so.  I got there, filled out a bunch of papers, and sat back to wait.

Then I noticed something.  Nowhere in the office were eyeglass frame displays, pamphlets on eye diseases and eye care–nada.  Instead there were numerous pamphlets on plastic surgery procedures and other cosmetic surgery brochures.  I went up to their sign and yes, it did say (at the very end) ophthalmology and listed a doctor as an ophthalmologist.  So I wasn’t hallucinating.  But it was definitely an add-on.

Ophthalmology is a very complex specialty.  It is not something that a plastic surgeon tacks on to his resume.  I grew very uncomfortable, and to quote my Navy-man dad, I did not like the cut of their jib.

I went to the desk, told them I had to cancel as I did not feel well, and that I would contact them when I felt ready for an appointment (never).

The receptionist called my cab and I came home.

What a waste.

Now I can start all over again.

God bless everybody

Patty

  1. Patty, you should have done your research first if you didn’t have a regular ophthalmologist. My ophthalmologist lives two doors down our residential street from me. At first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

    1. That’s called live and learn. Usually there are many good doctors around here because of the proximity of 3 excellent teaching hospitals. I was just trying to avoid going too far away. Patty
