I don’t want to seem like I have a daily gripe–but the way things have been going I do seem to have a daily gripe.
And if I can’t vent here–where can I?
Yesterday afternoon I got a letter from Social Security telling me to send in a copy of our marriage certificate. It even had a red-ink stamp at the top stating “final notice” (like I was some kind of deadbeat dodging a debt). If they don’t get it by a certain date my survivor benefits would be denied.
The problem is, I sent the document close to a month ago. I even used the special bright blue envelope they provided. Pre-addressed. I sent both Lee’s death certificate and our marriage certificate in the same envelope.
So–either the Social Security office or the US Postal Service lost it.
Now it is my problem to solve (again).
By the time I got the mail it was 4:15 and the Social Security office closes at 4:00. So I could not check and see if somehow it had crossed in the mail.
I was literally furious, beside myself, and generally livid.
So now, on Monday–first I will call the Social Security office in the vain hope that the items crossed in the mail. If not I will have to call the Clerk of Cecil County Maryland and see if they can send a certified copy electronically. I hope the Social Security office has a way of accepting electronic copies. I am pretty sure they can.
Just for once I would like to have a few days in a row where I am not running into a lot of bureaucratic BS.
Keep me in your prayers, guys.
I need all the help I can get to keep from blowing a gasket.
God bless everybody
Patty
That is terrible. I’m at a loss for words.
Good grief! That’s just insane. I pray this gets cleared up quickly.
Yes, it is. I really don’t like dealing with large government agencies.
