My guess would be, the mother died after giving birth, along with any other kittens, and their cat found the surviving baby. That, or a stray abandoned the baby after birth. Something I’ve seen among our colony cats at times.
It is really a lovely story. Cats are awesome mothers.
Cats are truly remarkable with this behavior. Maybe because the cat is a solitary hunter and not a pack animal, all the care of the young falls to the mother.
That is heartwarming. If you take time to look, you can see our Creator’s love, reflected many places in nature.
An overwhelming drive to love and care for the young.
Something which amazes me, every time I see it.
