The title says it all. The plumber came today-I had used this company before and they were very good-and he explained that the pipe is so old that if he snaked it, it would probably break and/or would either break or not fit properly together. He also showed me the problem and I could see what he meant. A pipe replacement.
The bill for this replacement work would have been so high, I knew I had to get the landlord involved. If it had been just a clog, no problem I would have paid the bill. This work would have been more involved, so I called the landlord.
Bottom line–the landlord’s plumber is coming tomorrow. He (the landlord) felt the bill quoted was far too high, and his guys would do it for a better price.
We will see what tomorrow brings.
I only know I am sincerely tired of this problem now. It is not stopped up completely, but the sink drains so slowly and I am not letting the water come back up the drain into the sink (contamination) that it just takes forever to do a few dishes. I need that like a hole in the head.
Let’s hope this can be resolved tomorrow.
They are still talking about a major nationwide storm for the weekend.
I really understand the old Chinese curse “May you live in interesting times.”
God bless everybody.

Well, hopefully this will resolve and you’ll be through with it. We are not in the direct path of this big storm, but will be lightly affected by the very tail of it. Tomorrow might be decent here, but Saturday looks miserable.
same here the weekend looks bad
I just checked the weather in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where I have friends and family. It’s already well below zero in many of those places. It isn’t uncommon to have a brief January thaw up there; a week or so when the snow might just melt enough that you can see the grass. But that happened roughly a week ago, and it’s all hands on deck winter, now.
Yes, this could be really bad.
I’d suggest being prepared to close off one room and have blankets, wither clothing, etc. ready to go, just in case there’s a power outage. You’ll get through this, and it shouldn’t be too bad, beyond Sunday.
From your mouth to God’s ears.
You’ll be fine. Today is west coast dinge, here in the desert. Just enough rain to curtail any useful outdoor activity, but not enough to make a difference. (While I was writing that last sentence a real downpour started, but I reserve my right to continue my rant against second-hand California weather.)
