  1. What a beautiful little baby. Kittens are so wonderful, and they are pretty wonderful when they grow up, too.

    The pottery vignette was interesting. Cats are capable of being interested in things we might find surprising. My cat is fascinated with my guitars. Sometimes she will try to climb the fretboard. She associates the movement of my right hand with the production of sound, and knows that my left had plays a role. She knows that the sound from my amplifier, 6-10 feet away comes from the guitar.

    Yesterday, I was somewhat absent-mindedly fingering some notes on the bass strings with my left hand, without striking the corresponding string with my right hand. This creates a sound, and when she saw that I was playing notes without striking the strings, she was fascinated, and watched in rapt attention, for quite a while. Cats are very smart, and very aware.

    1. They sure are. Many years ago Lee & I heard an odd, twangy sound coming from the kitchen. I checked, and there was Buster, my big orange boy. Lee had put a rubber band around a box (which had become dilapidated) that had a coffee cake in it. Buster was twanging the rubber band repeatedly. He wasn’t trying to get the cake out because he was twanging too gently. I think he enjoyed making the sound. Cats are amazing.
