Today’s Hymn: ‘It Is Well With My Soul’

Rest, and listen, and let this hymn speak to you in a quiet place.

The man who wrote this hymn passed through terrible tribulation, and endured. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_Is_Well_with_My_Soul) I don’t know how he survived, but by the grace of God, he did.

Of course, for the hymn to do you any good, you have to believe you have a soul; and you have to believe you have a Savior, Jesus Christ. But then probably, if you are reading this, you do.

By Request, ‘It Is Well With My Soul’

Joey and Rory Feek perform It Is Well With My Soul.

Joey died on March 4 of this year, after a long illness (cancer). But it is well with her soul, and will be well forever.

There’s a story that goes with this hymn, about the man who wrote it in 1873, after living through the Great Chicago Fire. You can read it on the screen as you listen.

Tomorrow I’ll see if my wife can post a hymn while I’m losing my entire morning in the doctor’s office. She’s the smartest person I know, so she ought to be able to manage it.

By popular demand–well, by one reader, but I have to start somewhere–here’s It Is Well With My Soul.

God grant that it be so for all of us, His people.
