A Line in the Sand: Church Rejects COVID Vaccines

9: What were Luther's 95 Theses about? - ETS Engage

Martin Luther started the Reformation by nailing his 95 Theses to the church door.

The Calaveras Presbyterian Church, in California, has issued a faith statement rejecting 24 different COVID vaccines. The full text of the statement is available in the Myrtle BeachSC News (https://myrtlebeachsc.com/calaveras-presbyterian-church-makes-statement-of-faith-on-vaccines/).

It’s a thorough treatment of the subject, and should be read in its entirety. Here, let three quotes suffice:

*”Calaveras Presbyterian Church holds to the sanctity of human life at all stages from conception and it holds to the absolute inadmissibility of medicines/pharmaceuticals prepared using fetal therapy.”

*”Denouncing abortion as a sin, the Church cannot find any justification for it even if somebody may possibly benefit from the destruction of a conceived human life.”

*The use of aborted fetal tissue, says the church, is “glaring immorality and is spiritually criminal as a violation of Divine Law.”

The church lists published scientific sources for its rejection of each of 24 vaccines–all of them involving aborted fetal tissue in their production.

There is no compromise here. The opposition to abortion is absolute.

There comes a time when one must either trust in God or not. Calaveras Presbyterian thinks that time is now. As Martin Luther did when he nailed his 95 Theses to the church door, bringing on the Reformation, so has this church done. Its members have chosen to put their trust in God.

How many more churches will do the same?
