A Death in My Family

Dear readers, my mother died suddenly last night.

Let this be said of her: She (and my father) saw to it that their three children knew that Jesus Christ is Lord, and their lord. This gift she gave us, which cannot be taken away. I drifted away for a while–that’s what public education and college do to most of their inmates–but the Good Shepherd knew where to find me. And He did.

If my posts seem odd or inarticulate during the next few days, you now know why.

  1. Hi Lee, Please receive our condolences at your Mom’s passing. While you can rejoice that she knows Christ – better now than ever – I know you and your family will miss her. Mary Beth Tucker

  2. Suddenly is such a shock. Shauna’s dad passed suddenly and it was definitely the most difficult to process. With my mom and dad it was “Fair well, We’ll see you soon.” It is such a comfort to know that we will see them again, and with the way time marches so quickly, it will be sooner than we expect. God bless. And take some time off.

    1. Boy, would I ever rather work than go to a funeral! We’ve had a lot of them in the past few years. Well, the older we get, the faster time slips by.

  3. Lee, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost both of my parents several years ago, and I understand the feelings that follow these events. We can be so joyful, however, to know these loved ones are now at peace with the Lord of their souls. Shalom, Erlene

  4. My very deepest condolences to you and your family at this time and at your loss, Lee.

This March 30th and April 3 will mark my dear mom and dad’s passing many years ago. Mom was 96 and Dad 87. God was gracious as always in that I, as an only child, could take care of them and they both died in their own beds at home.

On a bright side, your Mom’s legacy lives on richly in you and others, I am sure. God bless you all. Thank you for thinking to share with us all at this painful time.

  5. Lee, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your mother and father did a wonderful job raising their children. God bless you.

  6. Lee, I’m so sorry. I’m not very good at condolences (who is?) but I would give you a hug if I could! I pray that God will comfort you.
