Has America changed since September 11, 2001? Yes. For the better? You decide. Here are some of the more prominent changes.
*We have grown more like Sodom and Gomorrah, not less. Any opposition to the march of sodomy is increasingly criminalized.
*Our Defense Dept. ponders “what is the proper punishment” for Christians in the military who believe homosexuality is a sin–a belief, by the way, held by virtually the entire human race for thousands of years.
*We have a “president” and attorney general who have personally done more to poison race relations in the USA than the Ku Klux Klan ever hoped was possible.
*If we want to fly anywhere, we have to stand in line to be groped by government goons–while the guy in the turban and the bin Laden T-shirt gets a free pass. (If we bothered him it would be “profiling,” a form of secular sacrilege.)
*The NSA routinely scans our phone calls and our email. It’s for our own good, says the government. ROFL.
*Voter fraud has evolved into a science, able to swing a national election.
*Conspiracy theories, once the exclusive realm of crackpots, have become well-nigh universal.
I don’t know about you, but it sure doesn’t look like “for the better” to me.
I pray there are many people who did what I did on that day. Back before September 11th I always loved God from a distance but thought I had sinned to far away to be like a Christian. I thought back then only good people were Christians and I had stepped far over the line and could not be reconciled back to God. The salvation of Jesus was hidden from my eyes. I used work as a “salvation” to keep at bay self destruction. Worked my way up on a manager in an insurance company and was busy trying to use my ambition to climb on up the corporate ladder providing for three children and a husband. We had hard times because we were sinners. When I saw all those people had died just for going to work every day like I was doing I realized that something was deficient in my life. I was in my office and asked Jesus if He was real if He could please let me know if I was doing the right thing! Well afterward every demon I think that was using me did their best to kill me back then, but out of it all 12 years later I have a life dedicated to Jesus. I have my whole life to him on 07/04/2003 and haven’t stepped out of His kingdom ever since. I pray there are many people like me who started their way to salvation that day and are now save in the Messiah’s arms.
Maybe you’re familiar with these verses from the Bible, in which Jesus is speaking of a building that collapsed:
“Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwell in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay; but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:4-5)
You would have thought a national trauma like 9/11 would have prompted more people to respond as you did: to rethink your life, repent, draw nearer to Our Lord. That was the lesson He wanted to teach when He reminded His audience of that event in Siloam.
But there seem to be an awful lot of Americans who have hardened their hearts and refused to repent, and instead sinned more and more, and harder and harder.
The people in Siloam didn’t die because they were the worst sinners in Jerusalem. They were ordinary people going about their business when the tower fell on them, killing eighteen. The point is that in this fallen world, no one knows when death will come, and going peacefully about your business is no protection. So it’s best to repent while we’re still alive!
