For those of you who’ve been reading my Bell Mountain books, this is what the Ghols sound like when they sing. Just close your eyes and imagine you’re King Ryons, riding with his loyal Ghols around him.
I’m afraid this is a little over the top for me, but I think some of the neighbor kids around here are practicing to perfect this art. That’s why I keep a box of earplugs handy. I don’t know… call me a spoil sport, stick in the mud, whatever, but I can’t help it.
To each her own… But for me, this beats the tar out of contemporary American alleged music.
Yeah, alleged is right on. Never listen to that, either.
It’s very unique! I can’t say it’s something I’d listen to on a regular basis, but it’s really … mysterious and ancient sounding, and actually does seem based on the actual landscape somehow; almost as if it’s coming from the earth itself, if that’s not too corny 🙂
I’d walk a mile out of my way to avoid hearing Beyonce or Lady Gaga or any rap at all. I might even do calisthenics to get out of listening to any of that stuff.
But Mongolian throat-singing–well, if that doesn’t satisfy your taste for the exotic, what will?
