‘I Know that My Redeemer Liveth’

One of the readers here, Laura, mentioned this hymn a while back, before I’d learned how to post videos and pictures. I post it now because it goes to the heart of our faith.

The music is by Handel, part of The Messiah. The words were uttered by Job, when he had lost everything and was on the brink of death himself: “I know that my redeemer liveth… Yet in my flesh shall I see Him.”

Yes! Oh, yes!

  1. Very beautiful. Though I’m familiar with ‘The Messiah’, (my dad listened to classical music when we were children) I hadn’t heard this hymn. Thank you.
There is a contemporary group that does many, many praise and worship songs. In this season of giving, may I request ‘Give Thanks’ by The Maranatha Singers?

  2. Thanks, Lee. This is one of my absolute favorite verses in the Bible, and one of my favorite hymns as well.

“Though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.” Gets me every time!

  3. Astounding gift in one so young. Have noticed a number of young children lately with amazing gifts of various kinds. This in itself, is a reminder that our Redeemer lives and He bestows gifts to people of every age.
