Rock of Ages, written in 1775, performed here by a Mennonite choir–if you really listen to the lyrics, it will move you. I promise.
“Wash me, Savior, or I die…”
Did William Jennings Bryan really say, “I’m more interested in the Rock of Ages than the age of rocks”? If he did, God bless him for it!
It is a great hymn only matched by a few others. I believe the secret of its great appeal is the term Rock of Ages.
It speaks of the timelessness of the moral teaching of Jesus Christ.
Amen!
