Even Republicans Can Do… Nothing!

I forbear to comment on libs ‘n’ progs turning cartwheels over the death of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. They are their own best advertisement.

And of course, here’s their chance to stack the Supreme Court during the last year of President *Batteries Not Included’s second term, enabling him to keep his hand around America’s throat for the next 30 years or so, given the court’s virtually dictatorial powers. His only problem will be to choose precisely which Leftist nudnick he wants to appoint. Jane Fonda? Bill Ayers? Louis Farrakhan? It’s an embarrassment of poverty.

But there’s a Republican majority in the Senate, which means that no one can become a Supreme Court justice unless the Republicans vote to confirm him (or her). No one. All the Senate Republicans have to do is… nothing.

They don’t even have to reject the nominee. They don’t have to vote on the matter at all. If they’re afraid of being called racists, afraid of their own shadows–well, all they have to do is nothing!

Stall for time, if you’re such cowards and dastards that you’re afraid to say “No!” to this president who throws like a girl. Yeah, yeah, we’re workin’ on it, ain’t we goin’ as fast as we can? Oh, darn, I lost that paperwork… Guess we’ll have to start over.

How quickly we forget.

When George W. Bush was president, and Harry Reid the Senate Minority Leader–that’s right, the Democrats didn’t have a majority–he tried to appoint Miguel Estrada to the appeals court in Washington, D.C. For two whole years the Democrats had hissy fits, and filibustered ceaselessly until Mr. Estrada withdrew his name from consideration. Two years!

All the Senate Republicans have to do, for only one year, is Nothing.

Even Beltway Republicans ought to be able to figure out how to do Nothing.

  1. It wouldn’t surprise me if Obama, the usurper-in-chief, is already threatening to seat someone anyway. Little things like our Constitution and our laws haven’t slowed him down so far.

    1. The probability is that he already has someone with horns, a pitchfork and a long pointy tail sitting on his shoulder whispering in his ear. Hey, Obama, pssst, Jesus wins!

  2. Yep, I’m afraid you are right. I am (or could be) so frustrated with our so called congress. Makes you wonder how they can live with themselves.

  3. There are a few on the SC who might not be around much longer. So if Obama gets his way (as usually happens), but the next president is at least moderately conservative, chances are good we would be able to even the odds again. Of course the worst case scenario is Obama gets his way, and then we get Hillary or Sanders as president *shudders*. In which case our dying republic is a gonner for good.

    1. By the way Lee, your editor is right about conspiracies have gone mainstream. I have seen a number of people suggesting he may have been killed. The man was almost 80 years old! These things happen. I used to buy into conspiracies theories, but as I get older I find I don’t have any tolerance for them. There’s enough crazy stuff going on in the world to beat any conspiracy theory.

    1. It bothers me a lot. The Senate must not allow it. They have to remember not to declare themselves in recess, even if nobody’s there.

One more Obama judge, even for a week, and it’s adios to the First and Second Amendments. Adios forever.

  4. The NWO needs chaos to bring it in. The republican party has already proven their support of global corporate control. They have also voted for liberal democrat policies and did nothing about liberal mandates spewing from obama’s executive overreach of authority. There are too many progressives in neo-conservative clothes in the republican party who will push the “accept” button for the monster’s pick, such that any one of the ALL corrupted members of congress running for the presidency can pretend to be against it, knowing full well it doesn’t matter anyway. As we have learned, peaceful demonstrations can get us killed or jailed. If these turncoats in the senate screw us again, it will be the time for an armed revolution – while we still have our arms! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
