German Shepherds Love… Cats?

When I was a little boy I was terrified of German shepherds, convinced they’d eat you if given half a chance. Watching my little girl cousins play with Uncle Ferdie’s enormous German shepherd, I was sure they were trying to commit suicide.

But look how nicely these big German shepherds play with those little cats! Especially the kittens, and not to mention the one pet raccoon that someone got in on the act.

I guess I was wrong about them, after all.

  1. Very sweet! The momma cat who brought her babies for an introduction was precious (notice that she marked the dog as her property in the process lol).

My Australian Shepard/Wolf mix rescued a tiny kitten that had somehow wandered onto my property. As I saw her heading toward me, I wondered what she had in her mouth. She came to me and into my lap she deposited a tiny chocolate tuxedo kitten (about 3 or 4 weeks old). I got my wormer, flea comb and kitten food out and got to work. If it hadn’t been for my dog, I would never have found the kitten – who, incidentally, grew into a beautiful chocolate tuxedo cat who lived till the ripe old age of 23. 🙂

Lisa, I’m sure your new puppy will be a blessing!

    1. You’re very welcome 🙂 Glad to have brightened your day. I named the kitten Jeremiah

  2. Down here in the Ozarks, I have a friend that has a German Shepherd, a kitten, and a cat. The Shepherd would sometimes pick up the kitten in his mouth and carry it around. And he’s very gentle!
