‘Bringing in the Sheaves’

What a wonderful rendition of this hymn, Bringing in the Sheaves, by Burl Ives!If you missed him in the 1950s and 60s, he was a noted folk singer and award-winning actor. And this is one of my favorite hymns, all the way back to Sunday school.

  1. Wow, no one today would know or care what a sheave is and even sadder, they wouldn’t care to bring one in. No entertaining worship back then…if you didn’t believe there’d be no reason to sing!

    1. Like some flaming idiot once said, “Food just… is!” You don’t have to grow it, raise it, harvest it, transport it to the stores, etc. It just magically appears on the shelves.

  2. This is one of my favorites, too. I often hear it playing inside my head and remembering how we sang it way back then.

    1. I didn’t want to call attention to the typo.
My finger are going bad, these last few days. On the outside, no sign of anything wrong; and I’m not aware of having done anything resulting in an injury. But the third and fourth fingers of my right hand feel like they’re cramping, even though I can see they’re not. *Sigh*

  3. Mine do that and a lot more weird things. When I intend to type one letter,
    two show up instead. arrrrggg
