‘You Are My Sunshine’ (Joshua & Jeremy)

Let’s see if I can sing this without starting to cry. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey…” Nope. No can do.

When I was a very little boy with fantods in the night, my father would get up and pick me up, and sing this song to me. How well I remember that. “You’ll never know dear, how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away.” And he meant every word of it. That’s why it moves me so.

Anyway, here are our own Swanson brothers, Joshua and Jeremy, with their rendition of the songs. Nice work, guys! Got me all sappy. But that’s OK.

  1. Awwwww precious memories.
I would say this is my favorite of theirs, but I say a lot are my favorites, so again, this is added to my favorite list. LOVE this one sooooo much!

  2. Very nice. I heard this song a lot when I was young, but never such a moving experience as you had, Lee.
What a blessed child you were.

  3. Nice work guys. I enjoyed the walking bass line on the rhythm part and especially liked how you walked the bass line down from G Maj to E min using the F# as a passing tone. I also liked the way you ended it, landing on C Major, then resolving back to the G Maj. Nice work.

    1. “Thank you y’all”? Whatever that’s supposed to mean? Didn’t you mean “Thank y’all”, and not “Thank you you all”? And one more–what’s that comma doing after “Mr”? Isn’t it supposed to be a period? Oh dear, I hope my brother won’t take this insult too harshly. . . 🤡 🔨

    1. Thank you for watching our video, White Rabbit! I’m glad you liked it! 😊👍
