Where Is My Newswithviews Column?

Search me! I wrote it and sent it in on Monday. But when I went to the site today, just now, to post the column here–well, it ain’t there. It ain’t anywhere. And a sizeable piece of my work goes down the drain. I don’t just whip those up in 15 minutes.

Have you noticed that things–and people–don’t work as well as they worked a year ago?

Yeahbut, yeahbut! As long as we’ve all got face masks on and always practice social distancing, and never get the whole family together again, and give up all our holidays… what does it matter if our work just disappears without a trace?

  1. We are noticing constantly that things now are scarce, things get lost in the fray; in fact nothing is as it should be in this wacko world. I think it will get worse, so get your armor on and hunker down.

  2. “ Have you noticed that things–and people–don’t work as well as they worked a year ago?”

I have noticed that very thing. I just experienced a major screwup on the part of one of the largest tech companies in the world. A real nightmare, caused by their tech support. I’ve been trying to get some work done around the house, and the contractors are asleep at the wheel. I’ve been trying to get lab orders for my annual checkup and, over the course of the last month, they have not been able to get the lab orders into my hands.

  3. “Work” is such a bourgeois concept … or no, pardon me, that’s Old Marxism. Now we say it’s a white supremacist concept. Or heteronormative. Or whatever the latest buzzword — I mean woke word — I mean social justice word — I mean anti-racist word — will be. (I just can’t keep up with it even when I’m trying to describe it. But that’s okay, because according to Derrida and other Critical Theorists, the meaning of language is always endlessly deferred anyway.)

  4. How about this for NewsWithViews material? “Prominent evangelical leaders have just released a statement urging pro-life evangelicals to vote for Joe Biden. The signers include John Huffman, board chair emeritus of Christianity Today; Richard Foster, best-selling author of Celebration of Discipline; Jerushah Duford, Billy Graham’s granddaughter; Brenda Salter McNeil, author, speaker and long-time InterVarsity Christian Fellowship leader; John Perkins, founder of the Christian Community Development Association; the two authors of this piece; and a number of former presidents of evangelical universities.” So wrote Ronald Sider (founder of Evangelicals For Social Action) and Richard Mouw (former president of Fuller Theological Seminary) for the Christian Post. These signees say that the Democrat Party cares more for the down and out in society which is a Pro-Life position overrides state-paid-for-abortions. What a bunch of hogwash! These “Christian leaders are borderline heretics.
