I need a laugh before I get down to the grim business of writing Newswithviews. This little poem by Ogden Nash came back to me while picking up the laundry.
I give you now Professor Twist, a conscientious scientist.
Trustees exclaimed, “He never bungles!”
So they sent him out to distant jungles.
Camped on a tropic riverside, the professor missed his loving bride.
She had, the guide informed him later, been eaten by an alligator.
Professor Twist could only smile.
“You mean,” he said, “a crocodile.”
