Prayer Request: Erlene

Please, everybody, let’s make some serious prayers for our dear friend and colleague, Erlene Talbott, who is trying to recover from a very bad stroke. I just heard from her today, and it sounds like she needs those prayers.

Dear Lord our God, have compassion on our dear sister, your servant Erlene Talbott, and grant her a swift and sure recovery from her illness. Restore her, Lord, to our fellowship: we miss her! We are all your children, and the sheep of your pasture; and this lamb needs her shepherd. Please, Father, heal her: in Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I pray for Erlene all the time, and now I’ll send up extra prayers.

I’m in the middle of trying to track a mixup in orders, plus trying to figure out how to manage the heart monitor my doctor ordered for me, plus trying to placate a yelling cat who’s telling me he’s starving to death, but I had to open this post when I saw it was about Erlene. When I’ll be back here is anyone’s guess.

    1. I’m still alive and kicking, although kicking wears me out more than it did when I was a youngster of 75. 🙂 I’m wearing the monitor at the behest of my quack doctor, even though the EKG and bloodwork she did showed none of the usual signs of heart trouble. So I’m pretty sure the recurring light-headedness, racing/pounding heartbeat, and feeling as though I’m moving against rubber bands are from something other than heart trouble. I’ve also lost a lot of weight.

But when my quack doctor gets fixated on something — especially if it means expensive tests and/or devices — she won’t consider anything else. And I have to placate her this year, because my car’s crip tag — oops, I mean disability placard — comes up for renewal in August, and I don’t want to get into an argument with her before then. The last time, she was going to refuse to prescribe the renewal because my condition didn’t meet the criteria on her checklist. My 20% VA disability for the injury made no difference to her. If it wasn’t on the checklist, it didn’t count. 😠 Once I have my crip tag renewed, I’m going to try a different doctor, one who’s on the America’s Frontline Doctors list, to find out what the actual problem is. For all I know, it may be just a matter of diet/hydration, or it may be something serious, such as breathing apparatus problems, diabetes, or even MS. Meanwhile, I have to wear this stupid heart monitor for two weeks.

    2. I don’t like the way this sounds (although Patty had to wear a monitor once, and nothing much happened) and wit you well, we’ll be praying for you every day for sure!

    3. Unreal. My doctor retired and it’s taken me over two years to find a new one, but I think I finally did.

  2. Erlene, you are already in my prayers, along with Phoebe, Lee, Patty, Robbie, John and a few others from this blog. But I will add a few more prayers for you and your loved ones.
