Why They’re After Sen. Menendez

Now I’ve heard everything–U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has been accused ot illegally acting as an agent for a foreign country: Egypt, to be precise (https://www.politico.com/news/2023/10/12/menendez-accused-of-acting-as-foreign-agent-for-egypt-while-helming-senate-foreign-relations-committee-00121225#:~:text=NEW%20YORK%20%E2%80%94%20Federal%20prosecutors%20accused,Democrat%20was%20indicted%20last%20month.). While sitting on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, no less.

This is only one of many charges leveled at the senator. But do you want to know what his real problem is? I’ll tell you.

He said “No” to Obama.

There is no Democrat equivalent of John McCain, no “maverick.” You either tow the party line or walk the plank. Obama wanted a “let’s suck up to Castro” policy. Menendez, with so many Cuban-Americans in his voting base, refused to come on board. They’ve been after his scalp ever since, and now it looks like they’ll probably get it.

We are not defending any of Menendez’s other shenanigans which brought him into disrepute. But that kind of corruption and venality is a dime a dozen on Capitol Hill. If they busted everyone who was just as big a crook as he, you might not have enough left to make a quorum.

He’ll be replaced by someone who obeys the Party bosses.
