They’ll Bust You Either Way!

Masked bank robbers take advantage of COVID-19 face-covering ...

“As long as I’m wearing a mask… stick ’em up!”

Flash! Stop the presses! Huge news! Would you believe it? Wearing a mask can conceal your identity! Like, while you’re committing a crime.

You can’t fool Britain forever! And here we were, thinking Sherlock Holmes had retired. But now they have a bill pending in Parliament to impose a jail term and a fine on anybody caught wearing a mask–especially at any kind of political protest (https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2024/02/08/make-your-mind-up-now-british-government-wants-to-arrest-people-for-wearing-a-mask/).

Two years ago they were busting you for not wearing a mask. Almost 4,000 people were fined 200 pounds each for NOT wearing masks.

Ooh-ooh, I’ve got an idea! Pass the new law, but keep the old law, too! So you can be arrested and fined for either wearing a mask or not wearing a mask. That’ll keep ’em on their toes!

[Lest we forget, more than a few people here in The Land O’ the Free were harassed and even arrested for not wearing masks while COVID was king. If we ever allow this to be done to us again, we’ll deserve it.]

  1. From what I understand, masks, if worn properly, could reduce COVID transmission by about 10%. Im not certain that would even be statistically significant. But the story only begins there, because only a relative handful of people wore masks properly, and after the first month or two of the mask mandate, it was very common to see masks covering the mouth, but not the nostrils. At this point, the efficacy of a mask is essentially non-existent. To put it into a simple sound bite, masks didn’t do much, if anything at all, to prevent transmission of COVID.

I do believe that masks can do some good, but the only good they can possibly do it to prevent nasal discharge or sputum from being expelled in a sneeze or a cough. This is exactly how cloth masks are used in the medical profession, and as long as everyone understands what masks can, and cannot accomplish they are a sensible solution. If I’m having surgery, I want everyone in the room to wear a mask, because I have an aversion to people coughing or sneezing into an open incision. I guess I’m just funny that way.

In day-to-day life, I have long believed that if someone has symptoms of a respiratory infection, they might want to avoid getting too close to others until they have reached the apex of symptoms. Symptoms are not caused by an infectious disease, but are our immune system fighting the disease. By the time symptoms appear, any virus you shed will be somewhat weakened, so it would stand to reason that by the time your symptoms are starting to improve, your body has gained the upper hand, and you are unlikely to be contagious.

When COVID was first being discussed in the media, they made it sound like it was some sort of superbug, whose level of contagiousness was unprecedented. I believe this to be the excrement of un-neutered male bovines. Corona viruses are nothing new, but when this strain arrived, there was virtually no one whose immune system had any defenses at the ready to fend off infection early on, but, as with all diseases, so-called herd immunity built, over time.

I would be absolutely shocked if every person reading this has not contracted and defeated COVID 19 many times without ever becoming symptomatic. All of us are exposed to numerous infectious agents, all the time, but in most cases, our immune system draws a bead on the infection and leaves it dead on the doorstep, and we never know that it even happened. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that COVID 19 was dangerous, I lost two family members to it, but as with virtually all communicable diseases, it has lost much of its punch, over time.

So, while I respect the seriousness of the disease, I believe that the response to it was flawed, at best. Even at the time, I felt that what I was seeing was panic, fueled by media hysteria (which is the media’s business model), misinformation, and an irresistible opportunity for the power-hungry, including a physician with a well known name whom I see as the Mengele of our day.

I used to laugh at how ridiculous it was, that to enter my bank, where I am well-known, I had to don a mask, walk to the center of the lobby to face a camera, and take the mask off, for indenture purposes, then re-apply the mask, just to talk to someone I’m on a first name basis with, and who thinks that the masks are a ridiculous idea, but had to comply, in order to remain employed. My bank was one of the more reasonable ones; others were even more ridiculous.

Is it just me, or does it strike others as odd to walk into a bank with one’s face masked? That sounds like 2 of the 3 ingredients required to commit an armed robbery. Like I said, they know me by name at my bank, and I couldn’t fool them if I wore a Frankenstein costume, but the whole thing is absurd.

  2. Our new Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed an Executive Order that no mandates to wear masks allowed in the State departments or any State employees. She can’t do anything if private businesses mandate them. At one of our recent City Elders meetings, we had a couple arrested for J6 and they didn’t even go inside the Capitol Building. The FBI follows them all around now like they are some kind of terrorists.
