Can you say “scare tactics”?
“Vegetarian steak” is not steak, it’s an artificial “plant-based” pseudo-food created in the laboratory. Other than that, no problem.
France has banned “misleading” labels on foodstuffs–specifically, anything that would suggest that the product is some kind of meat… when it isn’t (https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2024/02/27/france-bites-down-hard-on-vegetarian-steak-mislabelling/). There will be hefty fines for companies and merchants who try to hoodwink the consumer.
Imagine that! Here you are, virtue-signalling to beat the band–and your Vegetarian Steak isn’t steak at all, it’s just a bunch of chemicals.
Yeahbut, yeahbut! “Go Vegan or we all die!” Would a bunch of activists lie to you?
Honk if you don’t know the answer to that question.
Another small step in a positive direction.
I’m glad that France has started this ban. I’m not a big meat eater; I go for days without it and relying on other protein sources. But God did tell Noah after leaving the Ark that life was going to be different for them in a world that was incredibly changed by the flood waters. Because these changes inevitably would have effects on their bodies, God told Noah and his family which animals could be used for food. Nothing wrong with eating meat. Human beings need it; rather they need the protein that meat provides. The daily protein requirement can be gotten the vegetarian way but you got to do your homework so you get the right balance in the protein.
I think Italy has done the same thing. Elon Musk has calculated that earth is capable of sustaining 80 billion people and able to provide such a large number with nutritional sources.
