‘Another Tough Assignment’ (2018)

By now I’ve forgotten what book this was. Something pitched to teens, and chock-full of the kind of slimy, petty wickedness that makes our current era so forgettable.

Another Tough Assigment

I always keep my eyes open for books I can recommend to young readers, but it’s been ages since I found one. Most of the stuff out there isn’t fit for lining the bottom of a bird cage.

And then, of course, there are the young adults and full-fledged adults who never, ever read at all–unless it’s required for their jobs.

I’ll be happy to get readers’ suggestions for book reviews.

  1. I wish I could remember some of the books I read as a youngun. I read tons of good, informative books; so many that my local librarian had to order boxes of books from
the large library in the state capitol.

  2. Your books are a refreshing contrast from what is so common in books aimed at youth or adult markets. I’ve all but given up on most fiction, these days.

    1. It’s getting to the point where I wonder if I should review my own books. But that might be too eccentric even for me.

  3. I bought these books to read to my children. “Classics to Read Aloud to Your Children” by William F. Russell, “Classic Myths to Read Aloud” by William F. Russell and “Favorite Poems” selected by Helen Ferris. And of course, there were other books, such as “The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom,” by Slavomir Rawicz. It’s not a children’s book, but I read it to them anyway, to all three of my children at the time, but needed to explain some parts to them.

And the one I read to them every day was the Bible. By the time my son Samuel was 10, I had read the entire Bible to him over three times (every word).

And for adults, I have a suggestion, a manuscript that Patty just loved, even before it was edited. A book that has now been edited, and within the next few days, the proofreader will hand it back to me, to place her suggestions within. “7,000 Miles of Life Perspectives,” by Michael Earl Riemer.

    1. I’ve got to start reviewing books again. Maybe start with yours. It all depends on how much energy I can drum up. Not quite myself lately.

  4. I just got my book back from the proofreader. It will take a few days to complete it. So, if you are going to do a review of my book, please let me know and I will send the updated file. Here is another comment about the book.

“I was very touched by this story—moved to tears at times, and laughter (or at least chuckles!) at others. I also loved all of the beautiful photos!! I felt that I really ‘knew’ Maribeth and what a wonderful woman she was! Michael was indeed blessed to have met and married her—and she was very blessed to have had him for her husband, as well. God our Father moves in mysterious ways to bring to pass His plan for each of us. We should praise and honor Him and His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, all the days of our lives. Thank you for a beautiful story, Michael.”
