Robbie Today

By the time we got her home yesterday, this poor cat was just about beside herself; and I can’t blame her. For the rest of the day and night, she mostly hid out in the bedroom, emerging only to drink or use the litter box.

We’ve been given assorted pills with which to medicate her. She does not want pills. She resists strenuously. We don’t have the skill for this. So we’ll have to find a way.

All that standing around, waiting for the cab, yesterday, did a number on my legs. Physical therapy later this morning.

Did I ever think that growing old was easy?

Anyone can do it, but it isn’t easy.

  1. I know what you mean. I had a friend, same age as I, who passed away a few weeks ago, and she always said: growing old is not for sissies. Was she ever right

  2. With the big 7-zero looming up on me, I’m starting to get the sense that I’m no longer a teenager. 🙂 So far, I’m pretty fortunate, but it doesn’t seem to get easier, over time.

  3. Just wait until you get to be my age, Lee. You’ll long for those youngster years of your sixties and seventies! (And you’ll also wind up saying obnoxious things like “Just wait until you get to be my age.”

I’ve been praying for Robbie, and for you and Patty as well.

    1. I am already saying “Gee I miss being sixty!”
      Welcome back, Phoebe.
You’ll have to pray for us some more, after you read the next post.

  4. When we had to give our cat medicine, they told us the best way was to wrap the cat in a towel first. It took two of us to do it. One held it and one gave the medicine. It was a little less traumatic.

  5. Just a thought. In the last while, we’ve started to give the cats “soup” for their wet cat food feeding. Its a mixture of canned cat food, warm water, lysine and (in the original recipe) pumpkin, blended together. With our cats, we’ve been adding a powdered mix that is supposed to help them be… regular, shall we say! We do it mainly for our elderly cat that is starting to have trouble chewing.

Is this medication something you can mix into food? A bit of wet cat food pureed with some water and the medication, given as a treat?
