Does Instagram Feed Sex Videos to Young Teens?

No, I am not going to post any pictures of this. It wasn’t the dinosaurs’ fault they went extinct–but it will be ours, if we do.

Lots of loopy nooze out there, these days. For instance:

Has Instagram been feeding “overtly sexual adult videos” to children as young as 13? Yes, it has–according to a study by The Wall Street Journal and Northeastern University (https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/instagram-is-reportedly-recommending-sexual-reels-to-teens-as-young-as-13-121626058.html).

Why does anybody do this? Does it rake in profits? Does somebody at Instagram honestly believe that children are better for watching videos of women pantomiming various sex acts?

What the devil are we doing to our civilization?

I can’t think of any way for this to turn out well. Can you?

  1. There is no way for it to turn out well, or even to be excused. Remember when the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt and told them to destroy all the evil, crazy people
who were living in the land He changed to Israel? Those people were filthy, no good
types like this and they paid for it.

  2. Wow!

If you go back to when I was a teen, pornography was not accessible without traveling to parts of town that weren’t particularly reputable. Such businesses would not let minors in, so children were at least somewhat insulated from sexually oriented materials.

These days, homemade pornography is distributed, via all sorts of platforms. The legal safeguards regarding such materials are routinely bypassed. I’ve read that the average age when a youngster is exposed to sexually oriented materials is now about 11. Children are naturally curious and having such materials readily available is going to result in a lot of youngsters seeing things that may be way beyond their emotional capacity. An adult being exposed to such material might be disgusted, but to a curious child, such content may trigger something negative.

It’s a difficult thing to control. I recall a fellow student in 9th grade who was in possession of some very explicit material which he kept in his school locker, and that was long before the Internet era. These days, I’m sure that such materials are all but ubiquitous among some students.

The only solution I can think of is to prepare children for this onslaught, let them know what is out there, the reasons why it is best to avoid such materials, and the expectations of the parents with regard to this. Hoping that children won’t be exposed to such materials is no longer realistic. Even in my relatively sheltered upbringing, so many years ago, such materials were offered to me, so it’s all but inevitable today. All a parent can do is prepare their children, well ahead of time.

From an early age, my parents both warned and prepared me for the challenges of illicit drugs and alcohol abuse. I cannot express how grateful I am to my father for taking the initiative in these matters. His efforts were not wasted, and even though I was offered access to alcohol and drugs, all the way back in high school, I was never tempted to abuse alcohol or drugs. It might seem a bit much to expose a preschool child to such warnings, but this was certainly effective.

    Amen, come quickly, Lord Jesus.

  3. Amen and maranatha. We need Him badly in these days. I can remember when I was a kid,
there were words that were too embarrassing to speak, and now, much filthier words than any of those are freely spoken by even women and youngsters. Very sad.
