
The Dispilio Tablet, dug out of a swamp somewhere, has been carbon-dated to approximately 5.200 B.C. That makes it the world’s oldest writing… that we know about so far.
Well, what does it say? We don’t know! Unknown language in an unknown script–it can be read, the experts say. For now, all we can do is speculate as to what it might say/

I have a wonderful reference book in my collection, Ancient Inventions by Peter James and Nick Thorpe. So many things we think of as “modern” have precedents thousands of years olld, neurosurgery being one of them (I’m sure you knew that already, Lee 😁).
All those lovely old skulls with holes cut carefully into them by ancient surgeons, for one reason or other. So many ancient peoples had that. We really don’t know how hold it is.
The Incas were still doing it in the 16th century.
We know little about the deep past, beyond the history of the Levant, as told in scripture. We have some artifacts, but much is surmised.
