Stranded!

I was cut off from the Internet all day yesterday, no access at all. Verizon said “a new switch” had to be installed.

A writer feels it as a hardship when he’s kept from writing. And there I had all these nice TV listings for you.

Yes, I’m extremely late for breakfast. I want my chicken and barley soup. I’m late because sleep for me is very, very hard to come by. But weariness isn’t.

I want my cigar.

Anyway, as you can see, we’re back online. Until the next Big Tech failure.

  1. Mousekin – Whew! I’m glad that’s all it was. I thought you were too ill from the chemo to post anything.

  2. Down all day for a simple switch replacement. Bunch of amateurs. I refreshed the switches at our home office, about two months ago and it took a few hours on a Saturday, working alone.

But we’re not a carrier. A carrier should be configured for HA (High Availabilty) and be able to do such a swap with little, if any interruption. It sounds like Verizon needs to tighten up their act.

    1. Patty called Verizon on Saturday morning and was told we wouldn’t be back online to late Tuesday night. I am very glad it didn’t turn out that way.

  3. I have been off and on, and off and on with different configuration with everything. So frustrating for an old woman. I’m still not where I was or would like to be, but .. oh, well. Just glad to see you are with us again.

  4. Just imagine what a EMP would do to our country -it would be insane. We have become so dependent on modern technology. Tech is neutral, it is who is controlling it that is the problem. I believe God has allowed all these breakthroughs in technology to be used for his glory – please give Him time. One day with the Lord is like one thousand to us. Patience and longsuffering are fruits of the Spirit.
