Allow me to don my Political Science & History hat as I analyze our country’s current politics. But first a word from history.
Representative republics are a rare thing in history. In the 17th century the only place you could find one was aboard a freakin’ pirate ship(!). In the 12th century, Iceland was the only functioning republic… outside of San Marino. The Romans had a republic, but over the years they pissed it against the wall and Julius Caesar finally buried it.
Our own country’s founders were determined that the American people should enjoy the blessings of liberty protected by their own republic, and to that end drew up a Constitution that was unique in the world at the time. It still is.
Here’s the thing: we have a conflict: the American people and a few of their leaders (Donald Trump, for one) vs. the Deep State, its servants in both parties, and those deluded people who think they’re voting for “democracy”… whatever that may be.
This is a pattern of history. It happens all the time. Ancient Greek and Roman writers described it. The rulers want to rule. They’ll do whatever it takes to get to the top and stay there. It may not start out that way; but then it never does, does it?
We are now there. We have some leaders who are dedicated to protecting our liberties. We have others who are dedicated to enslaving us.
Learn to tell the difference!
