Kevin Sorbo as Hercules
Remember Kevin Sorbo–the star of Hercules, the Legendary Journeys (1995-1999)? Yeah, that’s right–the star who got canceled for his Christian and conservative beliefs.
Well, who’s laughing now, baby (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14938797/Kevin-Sorbo-Hollywood-losing-money-woke-films-Trump.html)?
Sorbo has been making and funding movies on his own, these past years; and he says the studios have been trying to get him to come back. (What? So they can cancel him again?)
He says the public is tired of dreary, predictable, “woke” TV and movies–pointing to the colossal amounts of money Disney Studios has lost on its woke Snow White. It has been called one of the very worst movies of all time.
Wouldn’t that be great if Sorbo was right and “woke” dries up and blows away, never to be seen or heard from ever again?
In an industry where assign investment is required in order to produce a product, I have to wonder how and why they are able to attract investment with this endless series of movie flops. The last movie I saw in a theater was Get Smart, roughly 18 years ago. There was no message; it was just a story, played comically, and it made people laugh.
Even when I was in grade school, there were filmstrips and presentations designed to implant some political, goody two shoes notions into young minds. I could always see these coming a mile away, but there were always the few that lapped it up. I imagine the same is true with these woke movies; most people avoid them, but there’s always that handful whom can’t get enough of the woke.
I haven’t been to a movie this century–and I used to go all the time. But they aren’t making movies I would want to see.
