I could be mistaken, but I think our family had a Christmas album, with Nat King Cole, singing this song. That would be over 60 years ago.

Our family had a number of Christmas albums, a few with various artists and groups on them. There was one song, “Good King Wenceslas” which only had the first verse, and I had never been curious enough to find out what the other verses were. Thus, for most of my life, I always wondered what that song had to do with Christmas. Some king watching a poor man picking up sticks, what does that have to do with Christ or Christmas?
Well, about a year ago, I had to find out. There is a wonderful rendition I found, by the Irish Rovers with lyrics. So, if there is anyone else that doesn’t know what this song has to do with Christmas, time to get informed:
