I Actually Accomplished Something

I actually accomplished something in the last two days.  Something visible, something tangible.

There were a couple of tasks that I just felt myself postponing and not doing for awhile now.  I have a deep-seated fear of waking up one morning with my wheels fallen off and absolutely no ambition or desire to do any more of this hateful shedding of stuff.  Two people living together for almost fifty years can accumulate a lot of stuff.  It sort of gets buried in plain sight, and you just do your business of everyday living around it.

Don’t get me wrong–we don’t have walkways between stacks of magazines and/or newspapers or anything like that–but boy there is sure a ton of stuff.

But now I can actually see the improvement in a couple of places.

That means a great deal.

Some things were hard to get rid of, but they are of no use to me.

Some things I will send to Lee’s brother when I get to that point.

And many other things will be lovingly kept.  Small things, important things.  Things that meant and still mean a lot to me and to our little household.

I think I will treat myself to dinner from LaRosa tonight.

God bless everybody

Patty

  1. On thing I’ve always admired was that Lee kept the toy dinosaurs he had as a child. He never lost his sense of appreciation for such things, and that speaks well of his character.

  2. This year I brought down from our attic all Christmas decorations and other Christmas related items. When we are done adorning our house with celebrations of Jesus birth, anything we don’t use this year goes to the Vet Store. Downsizing gets easier the older you become.
