A very frustrating day.

I spent a huge amount of time (most of the morning) on the phone with Verizon.  I won’t bother you with the details, but supposedly everything is all taken care of.  There are so many divisions to Verizon–sort of a Macy’s and Gimbels  situation–that one does not know what the other is doing.  However, they are now saying it is all fixed.

Could just not get done what I had planned for today, so tomorrow’s stack of crap is even higher.

Sorry to be crabby, but I’m running out of gas.

Just praying that tomorrow will be better.

Oh, by the way, my landlord lost my rent check, so I have to put a stop on it and write another one.

That’s the kind of a day it’s been.

Have a good night, all.

See you tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

  1. Patty – My older sister used to live with my husband and me, and she was ALWAYS battling Verizon for her phone and computer business. I really feel for you (I use Pure.Talk for our cell phone and computer supply – great company, and reasonable prices).

    1. I may check that out, but right now I am trying to have as little change or hassle as is possible. Right now my plate is kind of loaded. Thanks for the tip.

  2. It’s unbelievable, just how messed up some of these phone carriers can be. I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest that this couldn’t happen with other carriers, but I know from firsthand experience that Verizon can be very unimpressive.

    1. The schools are mass producing MBAs who have zero experience. I’ve worked with some; pompous individuals who think that their degree means that they are qualified to solve any problem, when in fact they have no idea of how the real world works.

Years ago, I had a major telephony project, which was well within the reach of my capabilities, but I was assigned a Project Manager, for whom the ink on his diploma was still not fully dried. Most of the project involved some very specific interaction with our telephone provider, so that we were migrating lines at the proper moment. (Prior mismanagement of the system had made a wholesale move impossible.)

This inexperienced project manager assured me that if the phone company wasn’t quick enough, that he’d straighten them out. Anyone who had ever dealt with them would have known that to be the absolute worst idea imaginable, and double your money back guaranteed to get work work order moved to the very bottom of the stack. It was pathetic, but his almighty degree had him convinced that even the phone company would tremble before his greatness. (He did have a degree of greatness; greatness of abdominal girth, that is.) 🙂

But this is the world we now deal with; all sorts of people with freshly printed degrees, doing menial work that barely pays enough to life on, not to mention having enough to replay student loans, and clueless about the fact that without experience, they are not equipped to accomplish much of anything.
