Zonkey Finds His Herd

  1. I have known people like that. Pain in the neck jerks that could not make or keep friends, but came together, perhaps out of sheer desperation, and somehow it worked. In this case (excuse me while I don my animal psychologist’s hat) I get the feeling that both of them had never quite fit in and were always on the outside of the herd, looking in. Once they found acceptance from one another, they were able to accept the ups and downs of socialization.

Some years back, a traveling petting zoo came through town, and had a young zebra. I was amazed by how beautiful that animal was. You certainly couldn’t describe it as petite, but compared to any other equine I have ever seen, there was a delicacy to its features. There were signs warning that it would bite if you got too close, but it was sure a cute little fella.
