Government Interference Causes Big Problems

This is interesting and it has happened before.  A little long, but worth a watch.

  1. We’re not in the city, but we do care for a colony. Working hard to keep the population under control and socialize them, hopefully for adoption. The life of a colony cat is often short and brutal. Colonies like ours are a major problem all over the region, and there are few rescues that work outside the cities. Rural municipalities typically respond to the problem, if they find out about a colony, by sending someone out with a rifle.

Every farm has their barn cats, though. They keep the rodent population under control. We don’t really have rats where we are, but there are plenty of mice. Just not at our place! The only mice I see are the ones the cats have caught and brought over before having their snack. I do wish they wouldn’t go after the squirrels, too, though!

    1. It’s too bad about sending folks out with rifles. We can’t control everything, but just do our best. Cats truly are useful for the environment. It’s mostly when humans make decisions to eliminate a whole group of animals (because we are so smart, ha ha) that we cause more problems than there were in the first place. Good luck with the colony you are looking after.
