A number of years ago, in a mad rush to stop global warming, our leaders (in their infinite wisdom) decided to outlaw incandescent light bulbs. So, as usual, they threw the baby out with the bath water and forbade the manufacture of the offending bulbs in the United States.
There were some people -mostly medical pros, I believe- who dissented with the wholesale abandonment of the incandescent bulb, and who saw problems with the highly toxic LED bulbs. 
But that’s the way we do things–jump in with both feet–.
Well now there is some backlash, also from a medical professor of some sort (I couldn’t get the information as I was in my car listening to the report on the radio) who is saying these bulbs are doing real harm and should be replaced–with incandescent bulbs–. This is beginning to remind me of my telephone hassle. Why is it always an all or nothing thing? For a number of years, we were able to buy incandescent bulbs on line, but that source has dried up.
I still have some, so I’m not worried right now.
There is so much crapola in this world that sometimes, I despair.
At least my errands got done and my car got 15 miles on it.

I’ve wondered about this. I’m amazed by how quickly people have rushed into new technologies. I’m not anti-tech, but I am experienced enough in the field to know that many of these things rarely live up to their advance billing. The rush to AI concerns me, as well. I don’t worry about killer robots, but I think that people have invested far too much trust in this new tech.
