An eighth-grade history teacher in South Florida has been fired for giving a student “zero credit” for homework that he didn’t bother to hand in (https://www.wftv.com/news/local/teacher-fired-after-refusing-to-abide-by-no-zero-policy-when-students-didnt-hand-in-work/840999722).
Your school tax dollars at work.
See, the school has a “policy”–that’s educationese for “no thinking”–that the lowest possible grade you can give is 50: half credit. One of the students was moved to wonder, “Half credit for doing nothing?”
It’s called preparing them for college, where they can get full credit for doing nothing.
Workplaces that have policies as asinine as that soon go out of business. Because no work gets done.
Hey, America, we’re “educating” ourselves to death! Training a whole generation to be wastes of space is not going to turn out well.
