‘Be Strong in the Lord’

From Ephesians 6:10-18, “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might”–performed by the choir at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland. No, I wasn’t going to skip posting a hymn.

Thanks, everybody, for your prayers. I’m only going to the doctor for a check-up, and will probably be stuck here for two hours. He gets to asking me questions about Jesus and Christianity, and I do the best I can to answer. That’s where the prayers have got to come in!

‘Be Strong in the Lord’

I don’t know anything about this praise and worship song, other than it was written by Linda Lee Johnson in 1979 and a lot of people seem to like it. Also, it echoes one of my favorite passages of Scripture, Ephesians 6:10-17–which begins:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Hymn, ‘Leaning on the Everlasting Arms’

Hey, where is everybody today? Hello out there?

Never mind. What do you say we kick off our weekend with a spirited rendition of a classic hymn? “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”–good advice!

There’s an awful lot of bad news in this fallen world,  opposed to the good news of the gospel; but when you see that, there’s really only one thing a Christian can do.

Sing louder!

Be strong and of a good courage; be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.

P.S.–If there’s a hymn you’d like to see posted on this site, please let me know. I’m taking suggestions.
