Bob Costas at 71–he really is a life saver.
[A tiny bit of good news, before we get to the bad.]
It’s not every day you get a chance, literally, to save a life.
Remember Bob Costas? Game of the Week, special sporting events, tennis opens–he was one of our premier sportscasters. Now 71 (younger than me! Aaagh!), he’s semi-retired, but still gets behind the mike now and then.
A few days ago he was dining in a restaurant when another diner, a few tables away, began to choke. Costas wasted no time: got up, performed the Heimlich maneuver, and saved the diner’s life.
Which, he said, was what anybody else would do.
That Heimlich maneuver really works. Whatever’s clogging your pipe gets shot out of there like a cannonball. I am speaking from experience.
Anyhow… Way to go, Bob!
