Snow Fun for Cats, Too

That cat who buries herself in the snow with only her head sticking out reminds me of my baby fence lizards, who used to do the same thing in cedar shavings, for their bed-time: just the heads left showing. My grand-daughter saw that early one morning and totally freaked out.

Do Your Cats Do This?

Two cats throw themselves into emptying a sock drawer. Why? What are they looking for? Someone must have left the drawer open. What do the cats get if they can totally empty the drawer in, say, ten minutes?

Bubbly Cats

Some animals–cats and dogs especially–get a charge out of soap bubbles. It’s fun to watch, but I wouldn’t overdo it. Let ’em bust balloons instead. They say Lawrence Welk could breathe soap bubbles and not get sick, but I don’t believe it.

A Catly Moment

This kitten has just opened his eyes, quite possibly for the very first time. I wonder how his mommy knew it. What must it be like, suddenly able to see?

When Our Cats Were Young and Frolicky

Our cats used to run up and down the stairs, making a sound like two madmen on four bongo drums. Robbie’s 18 now and her stair rhythm is a sedate G’dunk, g’dunk, g’dunk. I wonder if I sound like that.

Cats ‘n’ Candles

Hey, humans! You can learn to put out candles with your bare hands. Just watch how these cats do it. Hint: You do want to take care not to set your house on fire.

Cat vs. Drone

I don’t know why this should be, but I felt immensely satisfied when the cat finally knocked the stupid drone out of the air. Somehow that said to me, “B.S. will not rule the world. Cats won’t allow it.”

Inscrutable Cat Video

I’m keelhauled if I can see the point of this cat video. Can you? But that’s how this day has gone for me. Three hours late with the critter video, and an unsuccessful stab at grocery-shopping. Maybe Byron the Quokka can take over while I go soak my head.

We Must Be Just a Little Crazy

What can I do to amuse my cat today? I know! Bring in a shovelful of snow and dump it on the floor so he can play with it. This is probably something a husband and wife should agree on before they try it.

Cats & Cukes

Some cats positively freak out when they see a cucumber. Why is that? What does a cucumber look like, to a cat? Can’t they recognize it as an inanimate object? Information, please! Inquiring minds want to know.
