A Favorite Hymn, ‘Light of the World’

If you’ve been here a while, you know I’m crazy for this hymn–Light of the World by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band. I was whistling it as I rode my bike this morning.

Jesus Christ, “the true light, that lighteth every man that cometh into the world” (John 1:9)–the only light, I dare say, by which we truly see.

‘Light of the World’ (We Need You!)

It’s a dark and stormy morning here today. Let’s have some Light: Jesus Christ Our Lord, “the true light, that lighteth every man that cometh into the world (John 1:9); the light that this world’s darkness can’t put out (v. 5).

Yes, I know I post this hymn pretty often–Light of the World, by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.

But we take hymn requests, too, so if you’ve got one, let us know.

Ah! ‘Light of the World’

Okay, there’s nobody out there cursing or fighting just now, the cats are fed, and now let our souls be lit by Jesus Christ Our Lord, the Light of the World–the true Light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world (John 1:9). This is the Light the darkness can’t put out–not even the darkness of this evil age.

Written by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band.
