Oops! School Can’t Turn Its Lights Off

Lights out? Not at this school!

Hey! Let’s have computer chips implanted in our brains so we can be real smart!

Uh… Maybe not.

Minnechaug High School, in the Hampden-Wilbraham school district, Massachusetts, has some 7,000 lights–and can’t term ’em off (https://www.yahoo.com/news/lights-massachusetts-school-over-because-140038949.html). Your school tax dollars at work!

The school is only ten years old, but in 2021 it developed a softwear cock-up and now they can’t turn off the lights: they’re on 24/7. It’s costing thousands of dollars a month, but be comforted–at least it’s not tens of thousands a month, a school official says. I feel better already.

They’ve been working to solve the problem, but they haven’t solved it yet, other than to unscrew a few light bulbs. How many school districts does it take to turn out the lights?

We don’t know!
