More Panic

We did our regular weekend grocery shopping this morning instead of tomorrow, hoping to beat the crowds. In this hope we were disappointed.

It’s a good thing we didn’t need toilet paper, because there wasn’t any–sold out to the last roll. *Sigh*  Didn’t beat the crowds, either.

Most of the people there–not all of them–tried to remain polite and good-natured, and most succeeded. The lines at the checkout counters were just short of impassable. And most of the carts were filled to the brim.

It’s all a panic over coronavirus. Many more people get killed by the flu every year, but nobody panics over that. That’s because flu happens every year and it’s not big news. Coronavirus is perceived as something new–and I don’t know what people are expecting from it. Doomsday? “Bring out your dead, bring out your dead”?

Which leads me to another post…
