Jesus Raises Lazarus (from ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told’)

I like to post this every Easter: the scene from The Greatest Story Ever Told in which Christ raises Lazarus from the dead. (“Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto Him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” –John 11:39)

Along with the Scriptures themselves, and the testimony of John the Baptist and the apostles, the works that Jesus did bear witness that He is indeed the Son of God, Savior and Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.

We believe!

The Raising of Lazarus

I love to post this clip, every Eastertime, from The Greatest Story Ever Told, of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. “I am the resurrection, and the life…” This is Jesus Christ the Lord: His works testify that He is indeed who He says He is.

The screenplay adds a nice little touch of irony. Here, the first of the disciples to understand what he has just seen, and to run to Jerusalem to tell everyone about it… is Thomas! Not in the Bible, of course.
