‘When He Was on the Cross, I Was on His Mind’–Plus Prayer Request

When He Was on the Cross, I was on His Mind, by John Starnes: this one’s for Erlene, who suggested it yesterday, and for Phoebe. These two members of our fellowship have been suffering with illness this week, and they need our prayers. Some of you have already started praying for them. Let’s all join in.

O Lord Our God, in the name of our most perfect healer, Jesus Christ your Son, two of our fellowship are down and we ask you, in Jesus’ name, to raise them back up: for we know that you can do all things. Please, Father, restore these our sisters to good health: in Jesus’ name, Amen.

‘When He Was on the Cross, I Was on His Mind’

Requested by Erlene: John Starnes singing When He Was on the Cross, I Was on His Mind.

As a challenge to the spirit, try to imagine hearing the Gospel now for the very first time, never having heard a word of it before. What in our own lives can prepare us for the savagery of the Crucifixion? How are we to measure that against the pure goodness of Jesus Christ? There are some parts of this fallen world where people can imagine such things easily. We in America are blessed in that we can’t.

No–our greatest peril is to fall into the trap of taking Jesus Christ for granted. I don’t know about you, but I have to shock myself out of that from time to time.

By Request, ‘When He Was on the Cross’
