‘There Will Be Peace in the Valley’

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.  Isaiah 11:9

By reader request, here is…. Elvis Presley?

If anyone as late as yesterday had suggested I’d be posting Elvis Presley here, I would have boggled at the thought. But God gave Elvis a beautiful singing voice, and here he uses it to praise the Lord. The lyrics are modeled after Isaiah Chapter 11. And it really is a nice hymn, and I’m glad somebody called my attention to it.

Just don’t ask me to post any “Christian rap,” folks. But I hope you’ve enjoyed Elvis’ piece.

  1. Thank you, Lee. That was really fast service! I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope others will as well. By the way, I’ve never been an Elvis fan, but when he does gospel music, he’s fantastic.

  2. Elvis Presley singing praises to the Lord?
I thought he was a pagan rock star who was born half a century ago.

    1. Elvis did a lot of gospel music. He loved The Lord and he loved his mama and his daughter. And he does a wonderful version of this song, don’t you think?

    2. Never knew that… interesting… I thought he was popular in secular music.

    3. Yeah, he was kind of popular. Time was, you couldn’t throw a brick without hitting an Elvis fan. His popularity undid him: kept trying to live up to it.

    4. Elvis had deep gospel roots. Yes, he came to a bad end, his riches got the better of him. But from all I’ve heard–which isn’t much, I have no interest in rock and roll–Elvis was always a Christian.
