Encore, ‘Shall We Gather at the River’

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most high… (Psalm 46:4)

I love this old hymn, and the way Tennessee Ernie Ford sings it. My Uncle Bernie, a good and godly man, used to play it in his car. I know I’ve posted it before–but what’s the harm in one more time?

  1. No problem at all in repeating these great songs. This is one that runs through my mind pretty often. Of course, I don’t have a singing voice, so it is wonderful to hear those who can sing beautifully.

    1. You could sound just like Tennessee Ernie with the right studio equipment… which hadn’t been invented yet, when he was singing.

  2. Erlene is right. All of the hymns you post, some by request and some that you’ve chosen, can all be repeated over and over. Praising Our Father never gets old. And Tennessee has such a wonderful, clear voice!

This morning I woke up to ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’ running through my mind. I know you’ve posted this before, but it’s a fine hymn 🙂
