Another Collidge Caper: Tampons for Men

When they’re not busy setting up racially segregated housing or handing out degrees in Superhero Studies, America’s great institutions of higher learning get up to some really wacky things. Not a day goes by without a new one.

Today’s absurdity is brought to you by Brown University, where–according to the student body president–“not all people who menstruate are women” ( http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=8105 ). Call me un-hip, but I don’t know what the devil he means by that. Anyhow, they’re going around putting tampons and maxi-pads in the men’s bathrooms on the campus: because even for men, women’s hygiene products are “a necessity, not a luxury.”

I have no idea what these people are talking about.

A year ago we were told collidges couldn’t stage The Vagina Monologues anymore because it ain’t inclusive of “women who don’t have vaginas,” traditionally known as “men.”

Yes, I know, this discussion verges on the unseemly. But I can’t help it, and neither can you–that’s what our colleges are all about.

And if you send your offspring there, and pay through the nose to do it… well, the more fool you.

  1. This is truly unbelievable. When are we going to establish insane asylums
for these people and make sure they are kept out of the way of sane people (if there are any left of college age)? I guess I can imagine what this is about, though I certainly prefer not to. There is a cliff of destruction just ahead and the train is picking up speed, the ground is crumbling, and everyone on board the train is too busy partying to notice. Oh, God, please be merciful and send people with sanity and common sense in greater numbers than the insane.

  2. Well, Lee, I just related this to Michael. His response was somewhat politically incorrect, as is his usual reaction (being a crusty old Marine) to the idiocy of today’s institutions of higher learning. He thinks “it’s a great idea because anyone who pays the kinds of tuition they’re paying today will need something to sop the bleeding.” Hmmm – does he have a point?

    1. Michael’s opinion of the entire education system isn’t printable, but suffice it to say, he agrees with most of the opinions expressed on this blog – and then some 🙂

  3. This is absolutely flabbergasting. I’m (just) old enough to remember the insanity of the late sixties and I thought that we, as a species, had recovered from such stupidity and, hopefully had developed an immunity. Unfortunately, the disease seems to have returned with a vengeance. What is good is called bad and what is bad is called good. Well, we all know the outcome of that situation. Unfortunately,we have to endure the spectacle of the whole thing, in the meantime.

I never went to college, and used to feel badly because of it. These days I’m actually glad I didn’t go. It’s not that education is bad; believe me, I’m completely in favor of education. Unfortunately, it would seem that what is happening in the colleges these days is not so much education as it is indoctrination.

    1. I went to collidge in the 60s and I was so glad when the 60s were over! Unfortunately, the morons who were the demonstrators in the 60s are the profs today.

They are industriously creating a whole nation of idiots, and I don’t see how it will be able to survive.

    2. Agreed! One gets the impression that these people do not realize that it takes effort to sustain life, to grow crops, to heat homes or to light those homes. They seem to think that the pleasant surroundings all around them are automatic and they don’t like being reminded of reality. They denigrate the farmers that feed them and criticize the fact that they drive pickup trucks.

Ultimately, these people are spoiled brats with an unlimited sense of entitlement. When they can’t find anything legitimate to criticize, they attack whatever is handy, to the point of considering two genders to be, somehow, unfair and overly restrictive. This is the point where one is supposed to say that they pity these people, but in all honesty, I don’t pity them.

    3. Rom 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

    4. Amazing, but true.

In the past, the enemies of our Creator have been used against themselves. I see this as an example of the same thing.
